Book Review: Following the Trend

following the trend
Following the Trend: Diversified Managed Futures Trading is written by Andreas F. Clenow. As the title suggests, the book is not specifically aimed at trading Forex, the book focuses on Futures trading, including profiting from commodities, government bonds, currency futures and other futures products.

Andreas is a hedge fund manager, he also has experience in portfolio management and investment advisory services. His trading publication is a popular purchase for a lot of avid trading and investment readers. Below is my review of Following the Trend...

What I Liked

It is Extremely Practical

Following the Trend is full of charts, tables and graphs. This makes the book very simple to follow and also makes the read much more interesting. The book approaches profitably trading by focusing on trending markets and the ability to recognize and trade a trend. Each strategy is very systematic and technical indicators are used in the strategies taught. If you are not interested in the strategies contained in the book then you can use the strategies as a template of what your strategies should include. The detail of each strategy is impressive, as well as the detail about the change of trading results (ROI) when adjusting strategy variables.

It's an Easy Read

The book is laid out well and everything is well worded. The trading book can easily be the '5 minute read before bed' or a 'sit down and study hard' publication. I feel that the book offers as much as the reader is willing to put in.

As with most trading books, the book is worth a read. If you are currently in the process of developing a trading system or strategy this book is perfect for you, especially if you have an interest in trading with indicators. I would go as far to say that Following the Trend is a must-read if you want to enhance the return and win to loss ratio of any strategy.

The Complete Investment Banking Course is not a trading course. It does not offer insights into technical analysis, money management, trading strategies or provide other typical trading course content - I understand this.
