Wall Street: the other Las Vegas is perhaps Nicholas Darvas' second most popular publication, the first being How I Made $2,000,000 in the Stock Market (my review of How I Made $2,000,000 in the Stock Market is available here).
Nicholas Darvas was a professional dancer who grew an interest in the stock market after receiving payment by shares for a dance show in Canada. Nicholas went from repeated trading failure to banking around $2,000,000. Wall Street: the other Las Vegas, is written to provide additional information on how Darvas made his fortune and additional insight into stock trading in general. I suggest reading How I Made $2,000,000 in the Stock Market first.
Below is my review of Wall Street:the other Las Vegas...
It's a Darvas Classic
First of all, Nicholas Darvas is a great author (as well as trader and dancer!). His books are engaging and very well-written. I consider Wall Street: the other Las Vegas a classic and a must read. First read How I Made $2,000,000 in the Stock Market and you will be hooked.
It's Reliable
Nicholas Darvas was a retail trader, and a good one. The information in this book is invaluable. Darvas' approach to trading is the same approach that all retail traders should take; simple chart analysis, having a trading plan and being disciplined.
It's an Auto-Biography
Auto-biographies are so good. Trading auto-biographies are even better. Who doesn't want to read a traders story of how they went from trading loser to trading winner? Wall Street: the other Las Vegas will not disappoint.
It's a bit Repetitive
Okay, I suggested that you read How I Made $2,000,000 in the Stock Market before reading this publication but you will notice a lot of repetition. Darvas recounts the same stories in this book as his others, this may frustrate some readers.
Summary
If you enjoy trading auto-biographies, you'll love this book. If you want trading insights from a professional retail trader, this book is for you. If you have read Darvas' other publications then you'll not missing much if you don't read this book.
