Book Review: Mastering the Trade

Mastering the Trade: Proven Techniques for Profiting from Intraday and Swing Trading Setups is authored by John F. Carter. John's first trading experience started in high school. His father was stock broker for Morgan Stanley.  One day during high school, John came home from the shopping mall where he held a job at a cookie shop.  He had managed to save $1000 over the course of a few months, and his dad told him that he and some of his friends were going to buy "some call options on Intel" the next day.  Although he had no idea what they were talking about, it sounded good.  John bought 10 call options at 75 cents each, and sold them a few days later for $1.50 each, doubling his money. Mastering the Trade is John F. Carter's only trading book...

Below is my review of Mastering the Trade...

It's written by an experienced trader

John F. Carter has experience as both an independent trader and a professional trader. He has experience with a number of different financial assets and products. John writes about some of the most challenging aspects of financial trading and can relate well to these obstacles - he has overcome them himself! His trading advice is some of the best trading advice in the industry.

It provides more than most trading books

Mastering the Trade covers a number of different aspects of trading. It is not just a book about price charts or a book about trading strategies or a book on trading psychology - it's all of these things. Some of the section headings include; What Really Causes the Markets to Move, Psychology 101, Hardware and Software, Stock Options, Gold Trades and the Darvas Box, Propulsion Plays, Pivot Points, Tick Fades, Scalper Alerts, and The Trader's Business Plan.

It's worth the money

Okay, this is one of the most expensive trading publications available, but it is one of the best. The trading publication is nearly 500 pages in length and is printed on near A4 paper. The book is full of chart illustrations and comes as a hard-back as standard. If you are looking for a single trading book that will teach you what you need to know about successful trading, this is the book for you.

Mastering the Trade: Proven Techniques for Profiting from Intraday and Swing Trading Setups is a must for any new trader. It covers a wide-range of trading principles and provides trading advice that most other trading books neglect. I highly recommend purchasing Mastering the Trade.

The Complete Investment Banking Course - Trading Course Review

The Complete Investment Banking Course is not a trading course. It does not offer insights into technical analysis, money management, trading strategies or provide other typical trading course content - I understand this. The reason why I wanted to take and review this course is that many financial traders have an active interest in investment banking and their role within equity, debt and other financial markets.
