More Money Than God: Hedge Funds and the Making of a New Elite is authored by Sebastian Mallaby. Sebastian Mallaby is a British-born journalist and author. He has worked with the Financial Times, the Washington Post, the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. His most popular book is More Money than God, but he has also authored The World's Banker and The Man Who Knew.
Below is my review of More Money Than God...
It's extremely detailed
There are no other publication as detailed as this one. You know the author has done his or her research when the 'Notes' section of the book is 55 pages worth of references - all in small print! The book details the origins of hedge funds and how they have evolved over time. The successes and failures of specific funds is detailed, as well the challenges that these funds faced. If you are looking for a detailed publication on hedge funds and hedge fund managers, this is the book for you.
It's cheaper than most other finance and investing publications
More Money Than God is a New York Times bestseller and a popular read for a lot of finance and investing enthusiasts. Due to the books age and decreasing demand, More Money Than God can be purchased for a few £'s/$'s. This makes the book much more affordable than other finance and investing publications, some of which are 5-10 times the price!
Summary
To be honest, I found the book very boring. It is not written to entertain. Detail is good, too much detail is heavy on the mind and eyes. The book is useful to certain readers but I wouldn't suggest reading this book unless you really have a strong interest to study about the history of hedge funds. More Money Than God was a disappointment for me and I have no desire to read it again.
